Gunstar Heroes was a side-scrolling action game developed by Treasure for the Sega Genesis which was released in 1993. You have to option of playing single player or a 2 player co-op campaign. The objective is quite simple – run and gun and defeat the boss at the end of the stage.
Sorry for the bit of dry period here on this blog. It has been a bit hard balancing work and life at the moment. Currently playing Secret of Chateau Moreau for IOS and juggling reading and watching retro anime.

Something about this game is so charming and entertaining that it is fun to go back to even after so many years. The music and level design are spot on. I was never really a fan of the genesis sound chip but certain titles have been able to pull it off quite well – Gunstar Heroes being one of them.
